The Latinx Geographies Specialty Group is a collaborative intellectual community that seeks to:

  • promote study of the political, cultural, economic, and ecological aspects of Latinx societies in/and geography;
  • encourage approaches including critical race theory, anti-colonial, abolitionist and cultural studies that allow for intersectional analyses of the processes and structures that shape Latinx lives and geographies on local, national, continental, and global scales;
  • exchange research, teaching, and mentorship ideas among scholars of race, anti-blackness, Latinidades and ethnicity in/and geography; and
  • build greater ties between the discipline of geography and interdisciplinary studies including Latin American and Caribbean Studies, Race & Ethnic Studies and Gender, Women & Sexuality Studies.

Membership is open to all members of the American Association of Geographers. Latinx Geographies Specialty Group membership can be added through the AAG Membership Portal: http://www.aag.org/cs/membership.
