The Latinx Geographies Specialty Group is a collaborative intellectual community that seeks to:
- promote study of the political, cultural, economic, and ecological aspects of Latinx societies in/and geography;
- encourage approaches including critical race theory, anti-colonial, abolitionist and cultural studies that allow for intersectional analyses of the processes and structures that shape Latinx lives and geographies on local, national, continental, and global scales;
- exchange research, teaching, and mentorship ideas among scholars of race, anti-blackness, Latinidades and ethnicity in/and geography; and
- build greater ties between the discipline of geography and interdisciplinary studies including Latin American and Caribbean Studies, Race & Ethnic Studies and Gender, Women & Sexuality Studies.
